Ruth M. Ervin was born Feb. 9, 1916, in Idabel, Okla. She moved to Portland in 1948, to San Diego in 1962, and lived in Hanford, Calif., for 20 years before returning to Portland in 1991. She was homemaker and a maintenance worker for Portland International Airport. In 1939, she married John D. Gardner; they divorced. In 1971, she married Prentis Moreland; he died in 1985.
