LOS ANGELES -- A Palm Springs man who prosecutors say was paid to act as a plaintiff in dozens of class-action lawsuits was sentenced Monday to six months home detention and will pay more than $2 million.

New home sales drop-off in '07 is steepest on record
WASHINGTON -- New home sales plunged in 2007 by the largest amount on record while home prices tumbled sharply in December. Analysts forecast more trouble in 2008 as housing tries to emerge from its worst slump in more than two decades.
