Barry Morse, 89, played pursuer on 'The Fugitive'
Barry Morse, famous for his portrayal of the detective who relentlessly pursues the wrongly convicted Richard Kimble for four seasons in "The Fugitive," one of the biggest TV hits of the 1960s, died Saturday in London. He was 89.

Byron A. Precechtil
Byron A. Precechtil died Feb. 1, 2008, at age 96.

Charles Luce was an electric peacemaker
Charles F. Luce, who got his start in the electric industry in Portland and became the chairman and chief executive of Consolidated Edison, the giant New York electric and gas utility, during some of its most difficult times, died Jan. 26 in Torrance, Calif., of prostate cancer. He was 90 and lived in Bronxville, N.Y.

Chris C. Maletis Jr.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Portland for Chris C. Maletis Jr., who died Feb. 9 at age 84. A trisagion service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Beaverton.

Co-founder of Guideposts helped bring faith to many
NEW YORK -- Ruth Stafford Peale, who with her late husband, Norman Vincent Peale, co-founded the global inspirational organization Guideposts, died Wednesday. She was 101.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, in Ross Hollywood Chapel for Detdrich D. Namapelebo, who died Feb. 6 at age 58.

Diane Keblbeck
A service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, in Calvary Chapel in Hillsboro for Diane Keblbeck, who died Feb. 5 at age 55.

Donald Allen Holland

A service will be at noon Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, in Willamette National Cemetery for Donald T. Pedersen, who died Feb. 6 at age 77.

Dorothy B. Salzwedel
Dorothy B. Salzwedel died Jan. 28, 2008, at age 86.

Earl Butz, controversial U.S. ag secretary
Earl L. Butz, who orchestrated a major change in federal farm policy as secretary of agriculture in the 1970s but came to be remembered more for a vulgar racial comment that brought about his resignation during the 1976 presidential election race, died Saturday in Kensington, Md. Butz, who lived in West Lafayette, Ind., was 98.

Emily C. Bachl
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, in Calaroga Terrace for Emily C. Bachl, who died Jan. 25 at age 88.

Helen Elizabeth Steele
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Beaverton for Helen Elizabeth Steele, who died Jan. 25 at age 81.

Janice Marie Rice

Nobel winner was a founder of molecular biology
Joshua Lederberg, 82, a Nobel Prize winner for his work in bacterial genetics who is known as one of the founders of molecular biology, a discipline that in the past half-century has begun unlocking the secrets of how organisms live and reproduce, died Feb. 2 of pneumonia at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York.

Norman K. Ingman
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, in Calvin Presbyterian Church for Norman K. Ingman, who died Feb. 3 at age 84.

Ruth Schnitzer
A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, in Shaarie Torah Cemetery chapel for Ruth Schnitzer, who died Feb. 9 at age 94.

Wayne R. Erickson
