• Barry Morse, 89, played pursuer on 'The Fugitive'
Barry Morse, famous for his portrayal of the detective who relentlessly pursues the wrongly convicted Richard Kimble for four seasons in "The Fugitive," one of the biggest TV hits of the 1960s, died Saturday in London. He was 89.

• Charles Luce was an electric peacemaker
Charles F. Luce, who got his start in the electric industry in Portland and became the chairman and chief executive of Consolidated Edison, the giant New York electric and gas utility, during some of its most difficult times, died Jan. 26 in Torrance, Calif., of prostate cancer. He was 90 and lived in Bronxville, N.Y.

NEW YORK -- Ruth Stafford Peale, who with her late husband, Norman Vincent Peale, co-founded the global inspirational organization Guideposts, died Wednesday. She was 101.

• Earl Butz, controversial U.S. ag secretary
Earl L. Butz, who orchestrated a major change in federal farm policy as secretary of agriculture in the 1970s but came to be remembered more for a vulgar racial comment that brought about his resignation during the 1976 presidential election race, died Saturday in Kensington, Md. Butz, who lived in West Lafayette, Ind., was 98.
