Buddy Miles collaborated with Hendrix
Buddy Miles, the drummer in Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys and a hitmaker under his own name with the song "Them Changes," died on Tuesday at his home in Austin, Texas. He was 60.

Car king Coddington was a California legend
LOS ANGELES -- Car-building legend Boyd Coddington, whose testosterone-injected cable TV reality show "American Hot Rod" introduced the nation to the West Coast hot rod guru, has died. He was 63.

Carol A. Thomas
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Somerset Christian Church in Beaverton for Carol A. Thomas, who died Feb. 24 of brain cancer at age 62.

Charles Michael Nistler
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, in St. John Fisher Catholic Church for Charles Michael Nistler, who died Feb. 26 of a heart attack at age 55.

Cinematographer won Oscar for 'Out of Africa'
David Watkin, a British cinematographer best known for the scenic splendor he framed for "Out of Africa" and for capturing the loping strides of runners on the beach in "Chariots of Fire," set to the symphonic score by Vangelis, died Feb. 19 at his home in Brighton, England. He was 82.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, in Attrell's Sherwood Funeral Chapel for Clara Harriet Herbst, who died Feb. 29 at age 87.

Dave Clark Five singer part of British Invasion
Mike Smith, the lead singer of The Dave Clark Five, died Thursday outside London, less than two weeks before the band is to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was 64.

David Moss Campbell
David Moss Campbell died Feb. 26, 2008, at age 84.

Paratrooper led Entebbe raid
Lt. Gen. Dan Shomron, a former chief of Israel's general staff and the paratroop commander who planned and led the storied 1976 raid in which Israeli troops freed 103 hijacked hostages at Entebbe Airport in Uganda, died Tuesday in Israel. He was 70.

Sports writer Heinz was revered for style
W.C. Heinz, the sports columnist, war correspondent, magazine writer and novelist who was considered one of the finest journalistic stylists of his era, died on Wednesday in Bennington, Vt. He was 93.

Stewart Charlton Beck
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, in Living Hope Community Church in Brush Prairie, Wash., for Stewart Charlton Beck, who died Feb. 26 at age 42.
