Lucille Fitzgerald, who died May 15 at age 91. • Margaret 'Peggy' Dereli A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Portland for Margaret "Peggy" Dereli, who died May 13 of Alzheimer's disease at age 70. • Nuclear engineer helped block waste dump at Yucca Mountain WASHINGTON -- Joseph R. Egan, a nuclear engineer-turned-lawyer who led Nevada's legal campaign to block a nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain, died May 7 at his home in Naples, Fla. He was 53. • Richard S. Davies Jr. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in Finley's Sunset Hills Mortuary for Richard S. Davies Jr., who died May 12 at age 83. • Robert N. Black Robert N. Black died May 12, 2008, at age 54. • Social worker helped save ghetto's children Irena Sendler, 98, a Polish Catholic social worker who helped lead a smuggling operation that rescued thousands of children from Warsaw's Jewish ghetto during World War II, died May 12 at a hospital in that city. She had pneumonia. • Stanley Merrill Jones IV Stanley Merrill Jones IV died May 14, 2008, at age 82. • Steven Travis Gallaway Steven Travis Gallaway died May 10, 2008, of cardiac arrhythmia at age 51.
