• Corey Keith Baker
Corey Keith Baker of Portland died Sept. 18, 2008, at age 77. Corey Keith Baker was born May 10, 1931, in Ft. Atkinson, Wis. He moved to Portland as a child, where he graduated from high school. He lived in Palm Springs, Calif., for about eight years and in Mexico for about two years before returning to Portland in 1999. He was an employment specialist for the state of Oregon and was a founder and past board chairman of the Friends of People With AIDS Foundation. He also volunteered at Our House and Juniper House. His companion, Jerry McBride, died in 1999.

• Richard Vernon Clement
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, in Providence ElderPlace at Cully in Portland for Richard Vernon Clement of Portland, who died Sept. 25 at age 78. Richard Vernon Clement was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Portland. He served in the Army during World War II and moved to Tillamook after the war. In the early 1950s, he returned to Portland. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service and later was vice president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Oregon and a lobbyist for the insurance industry.
