Open Question: Are members of the national union of journalists only allowed to portray the BNP in a negative light as Nick..? Top
Griffin says? And if so, don't you think that such bias is an affront to democracy What happened to the impartiality where we could decide our views without been constantly subtly influenced? Flup - I don't think uncritically and Griffin always manages to beat them at their own game. It is the principle which gets to me, they know that not everyone in our society can think critically when faced with the journalists subtle cues I didn't say they should be positive about the BNP policies -just as impartial as they are with any other party

Open Question: UK gangmasters exploiting £8-a-week workers, how can a Brit compete for a job? Top
"Construction workers are being exploited by unscrupulous gangmasters paying them as little as £8.80 a week" http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/uk-gangmasters-exploiting-pound8aweek-workers-1794469.html In one PFI hospital project the union found building workers were being paid just £8.80 a week. Vicky, Perhaps you should check to see what percentage of them are British http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=gangmasters+exploiting&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=null&oq= Chinese, Pole, Indian etc etc. "Miroslav Bulczak of EU Labour Ltd, based in Falmouth, has been declared not fit and proper to hold a GLA licence"

"The European Commission has been accused of "unlawful" interference in Ireland's referendum after paying for a 16-page guide to the Lisbon Treaty to be inserted into national newspapers" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/6239933/EU-intervention-in-Irish-referendum-unlawful.html

Open Question: Is fewer but larger better than smaller but more numerous? Top
When it comes to the navy? I notice that the Royal Navy has a new strategy of going for much fewer units but larger ones, whereas in the past it was always smaller but much more numerous units... is it a good idea or would you argue against it? I think it's placing a lot more work on a smaller force that already is hard pressed to cover its commitments.

Open Question: What Do You Think Of My Next New Labour New Motto? Top
Hello. It suddenly occurred to me that another new motto might go something like this:- "New Labour - Putting Lawlessness First and The Innocent Second". Hmm. I like this one! Big L 266 Superior Jeans - Love it! I'm emailing from my padded cell! X

Open Question: Now Johnson the Home Secretary claims prior to 1998 there was nothing to prevent the harassment of families? Top
Johnson is now claiming that prior to 1998 there was no legislation which would have prevented the harassment of Ms. Pilkington and her family, that being true why was nothing done about it in this case ? Ten years the family suffered abuse and intimidation whilst the local authority and police did virtually nothing to prevent it. Now of course the council and the Acting Chief Constable are very sorry and Gordon will bring it up in his speech today at Conference. No doubt we will have another similar incident very soon with the same crocodile tears from the authorities.

Open Question: Is it time to scrap the community charge and bring back the poll tax? Top
The poll tax was the first attempt to make paying for local services fairer. For the first time, it laid down the basic principle that all adults in a local community should ,"notionally" at least, contribute to the costs of their local services . That it was simply unfair to expect only house owners to contribute to the costs of local services. The poll tax was the same charge for every adult ,except that students , the unemployed , low income groups etc were exempted . The violent opposition to the poll tax came primarily from those who previously had not had to contribute to the costs of their local services --the great majority of adults in fact did'nt have to contribute under the rateable value system--and simply resented being asked to do so now. The reasoned objection to the poll tax came from people who accepted the principle that all adults should "notionally" contribute to the costs of local services but they preferred the more complex , local income tax solution to it. As a result ,we ended up with the community charge -- a house tax again ! Poll tax ,local income tax or other to replace the community charge--what do you think? Thanks Tex -- I should note that my question refers to the British poll tax system of the 1980's.

Open Question: Do you think it is extremism to allow gays to "marry", adopt, gay fairytales read to primary schoolchildren? Top
Do you think it is extreme homophilia? Why did David Cameron apologise for section 28 - surely it is right that homosexuality is not PROMOTED in schools. Accepted, yes, as it is quickly passed over in teaching but not promoted Do you have any unbrainwashed views on this? Tex - thats another made up lie of the left (that everyone has homosexual tendencies) to discredit opposing views. I know myself fully and I have not one atom in my body which desires a mans bumhole Badwolph -no, i mean unbrainwashed by society, media, politicians, schools brainwashing with this, soap operas, the gay lobby etc etc Tex - well I've heard teh lie from the left that everyone has gay tendencies - I thought you were of the group promoting such fabrications. Anyway, if you are implying that I am a gay basher because of my views then I can assure you that a mans chocolate starfish repulses me, I have no desire whatsoever to stab it and I fully know my sexuality Mr Hairyman - Jesus abolished the old law of which you give examples. However homosexuality is still mentioned in the new testament several times as an abomination so this still stands

Open Question: Lord Kinnock backs Gordon Brown as a 'definite winner', is this more Labour delusions? Top
Kinnock obviously knows about winning? Not at the ballot box but for the unelected gravy train at Brussels. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/gordon-brown/6241968/Lord-Kinnock-backs-Gordon-Brown-as-a-definite-winner.html Loll Y/A suggested sports - fantasy as the category for this question!

Open Question: So what are our useless "Government" intending to do about this tragedy? Top
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/8279877.stm I know exactly what the neighbours mean by "kids rule the street", we live in an area which is pretty much under the control of a gang of teenage losers who think they can do as they like, abuse people, smash windows and act like animals. And the police generally don't even bother to show up if you report any of the anti-social activity. Is the Government actually going to learn from this? Diarmuid - what can you do? If a bunch of "real men" got hold of these little hoodie scumbags and beat the crap put of them they'd be arrested for assault! We can do nothing to protect ourselves . . . Kit - the parents don't give a damn. The kids who rule our street come from single parent families where the one "parent" is usually an alcoholic or otherwise completely unable/unwilling to control their child. Others are just as stupid and ignorant as their kids with no basic sense of right and wrong. How can the children be expected to grow up any different? As the parents are unable to discipline/comtrol their spawn the Government need to do it by way of criminal proceedings. ie jail terms for unfit parents and their brats.

Open Question: What do I have to do to make them sort this out? Top
I have been on the council waiting list for a 3 bed house since early 2007. I can only move to a set area and I am sick to death of seeing them give good houses to bands 1 and 2 and never the lower bands. They are effectively housing people who are homeless (and having been homeless once i can say these are the most troublesome group sometimes) the best areas and it makes me furious. I have a letter from my health visitor, am ringing and emailing every day when a house suited to my needs comes free and still bloomin nothing. I honestly feel (no rascist intent here at all) that if i sat in that office and said me not know english they'd be supporting me to high heaven (immigrants round here get to see the manager or someone from upstairs within minutes of saying that and are rehoused sooner just so the council dont have to deal with them). But because I am working class, two children and understand i dont get any help or support at all. What do I have to do to make them rehouse me? Should I go to an mp or something? I refuse to go private, because around here, they're a lot more than I can afford, and also, once i've given up a council tenancy, they have no legal obligation to rehouse me if the private landlord decided to sell up or i had to leave for any reason as the council class giving up a council tenancy as making yourself intentionally homeless and therefore you no longer come under their housing need/obligation. So private isnt an option for the above reasons. It really is making me angry, I walk around all the estates every monday to see whats coming empty, I ring the council and go into the local office as soon as something is available that would meet our needs, and dont know what else I can do. I have my father telling me to take a lesser area (why should i live in somewhere like the estates on shameless just because i need a bigger house) and my mother telling me to bring in an mp (which will make the council so peed off they'll recall my name forever). So i dont know what to do? I have three towns i'll accept. I have bid on every single house in those towns that has come free in the last few years. Its not like i'm waiting for one house alone. I need a house near to my sons nursery as we dont have transport. near to his dads because of access and need to be in these areas for various reasons. immigrants ARE prioritised, even the counter staff say it but they cant do anything about it. they are put in band 1 and 2 when they werent even born here and most havent paid into this country! homeless, i have a problem when drug addicts, alcoholics, groups of kids having kids who blare loud music out, annoy people and wreck the decent houses they are given only to go back into hostels anyway are given nice areas and others who'd appreciate it cant get it. i've lived in that life, so i KNOW it happens, and its not right. families deserve decent homes, it should be them that come first.

Open Question: UK: What's it like to be #14 in healthcare? Top
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090928/hl_nm/us_canada_health You're pretty close to the USA now, which is ranked at 16. Canada is 10. I wonder why Canada and UK were the center of our healthcare debate, when clearly they're both garbage. We should imitate Japan's healthcare. How are they providing the world's best healthcare to 160 million people?
