A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Open Arms Seventh-day Adventist Church in Portland for Fern K. Seaburn-Westmoreland, who died March 4 at age 63.

Historian Fredrickson did groundbreaking work on race
George Marsh Fredrickson, an authority on the history of racism whose work comparing the histories of South Africa and the United States helped create a new field of study, died Feb. 25 at his home on the Stanford University campus, where he taught for nearly two decades. He was 73.

James Robert Pierson
James Robert "Jim" Pierson died Feb. 29, 2008, at age 81.

Jerry H. Boehme
Jerry H. Boehme died March 2, 2008, at age 68. Jerry Boehme was born May 12, 1939, in Milwaukee, Wis. He served in the Army. He was an engineer who moved to Portland in 1979 and went to work for the Oregon Graduate Institute. He retired in 2000 and did consulting work. In 1965 he married Suzanne LaJoure.

John Edward Wyatt
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Christian New Life Ministries Church for John Edward Wyatt, who died March 7 at age 80.

Kathleen Jo Thorsen
Kathleen Jo Thorsen died March 5, 2008, at age 49.
